What Is a Conversion E-Bike?
A conversion e-bike is a pedal bike to which a surprisingly quiet hub motor and lithium-ion battery pack are added to create an electric bicycle. When complete, the bike looks essentially the same but now it travels very fast and very far. The rider may pedal and apply low levels of throttle as desired, or let the bike do all the work. It's a pleasure bike, an exercise bike and a silent motorcycle all in one.
With a top speed of about 30 mph and a maximum range of about 70 miles, electric bikes have evolved into powerful, long distance vehicles.
NOTE: As you can see, conversion did little to alter the original character of the bike. This handsome comfort cruiser is still a handsome comfort cruiser.
Advantages of Conversion E-Bikes
Retail e-bikes with high-quality, high-range battery packs start at about $2,000.00, ouch! Similarly equipped conversion e-bikes on the other hand start at about $800.00. Much less painful.
Conversion e-bikes save you lots of money but they do something else equally important. They free you from the limits of retail e-bikes. You get to choose the style of bike, color schemes and options which suit your personal preferences.
Another advantage of conversion is the ability to transfer the motor and battery to a different bike whenever it pleases you to do so. Tired of the old bike? Too many squeaks, scratches or rust? Simply switch over the motor and battery pack to the new bike.
The most expensive component of an electric bike is the battery pack but when you consider that they last 7-10 years they're quite the bargain.

We manufacture in America, popular sizes always in stock, our packs are covered by a 5-year pro rated warranty, we use the highest quality parts, repair defective packs and provide loaner packs to local customers in the rare event of battery failure. Our packs are unbranded so they don't interfere or clash with the design beauty of your bike.
Lastly it's a "thoughtful" design; meaning that a great deal of thought went into it by our president who is himself an e-bike rider and understands exactly what customers need and want.
Conspiracy Cycle battery packs are designed to be mounted to rear racks. Alternately they can be placed into panniers and other bags or cases of sufficient size. Packs measure 11.25" L x 6" W x 3" H and weigh 7-10 lbs.

Thoughtful Features
- Conspiracy Cycle makes the only pack with a BMS emergency bypass. Battery failure is rare and the BMS circuit board is almost always the culprit. In the unlikely event of failure, there's no need to pedal or push the bike back home. Simply switch to the bypass port and finish your ride. Then send the pack to us for BMS replacement. A free loaner pack is available from your local affiliate to keep you riding while your pack is out for repair.
- The power port uses a twist-lock connector to prevent the power cable from coming loose on bumpy terrain.
- The pack is water resistant and rainproof.
- The case is flanged with mounting holes for fastening or locking to bike racks and other platforms.
- Internally the pack was designed for ease of serviceability. In the unlikely event that your pack needs repair, the cost will be reasonable and the turn around time will be fast.

The Finest Materials
Conspiracy Cycle uses Panasonic NCR18650 GA cells exclusively. These cells are universally accepted as the best for general e-bike applications. They provide both high discharge (10a continuous) and high capacity (3.45aH). They are also known for their ability to run cooler than other cells which gives them a higher safety rating and increases the life of the pack. At the moment the 18650 GA has no equal. If a better technology emerges we'll use it. Meanwhile, Conspiracy Cycle is GA exclusive.
All parallel and series connections are made using pure nickel strips for highest current flow and lowest heat generation. All wiring is pure copper for highest current flow and lowest heat generation.
A BMS (battery management system) circuit board is added to every pack. This circuit board safeguards against over charging, over discharging, over heating and short circuits. It also balances the voltage of the cells which helps to extend the life of the pack.

About Battery Life
Panasonic advertises a life of 500-600 recharges. Their claim is on the low side as a precaution. In normal use these cells can be recharged 600-700 times. Following the two simple rules below will help you obtain a life of well over 1,000 recharges. For the average rider pack life is 7-10 years.
Rule # 1 - Deliberately undercharge until use. Leaving lithium-ion cells fully charged for any length of time will cause a film to be deposited onto the anodes which will reduce the number of times the pack can be recharged. Undercharging nearly doubles the pack life.
Full charge for 48V packs is 54.6V Charge to 52V. One hour before your ride, top it off to full charge.
Rule # 2 - Use 2-3 amp trickle chargers. Using an 8-10 amp quick charger will transfer excessive heat into the cells which also reduces the number of times the pack can be recharged.
Recharging a fully drained 48V battery with a 2a charger takes 4-5 hours.
Good News - Lithium-ion cells have no memory issues. There is no need to pay attention to how low your pack is before recharge nor how full it is when you stop charging. Li-ion cells are worry free in that regard.
